GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Develops, directs, coordinates, administers, and evaluates a year-round, multi-aquatic sports events program to ensure optimum usage of the aquatics complex; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under general supervision, the duties require the use of considerable independent judgment in planning, developing, directing, and evaluating programs related to the Aquatics Center.

TYPICAL DUTIES

1.Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, and evaluates the activities of subordinate aquatics center personnel.
*
2.Conducts staff conferences, and evaluates recommendations and reports relevant to promoting and implementing programs at the aquatics center.
3.Evaluates personnel and equipment utilization, and initiates employee training and orientation.
*
4.Maintains liaison with all relevant agencies and advisory groups.
*
5.Prepares budgets and reports, and submits all grant and contract applications for all funding sources.
6.Attends seminars and remains informed as to new methods, materials, products, and equipment relevant to aquatics center.
7.Evaluates the objectives, scope, organization, and effectiveness of the program.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Extensive knowledge of current developments in the aquatics field.
2.Thorough knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations related to aquatic sports and competitions.
3.Thorough knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in aquatic sports and competitions.
4.Considerable knowledge of organizational and administrative processes, procedures, and policies.
5.Ability to plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and evaluate a large, diversified aquatics program, and subordinate personnel.
6.Ability to inspect, review, and evaluate work performed, and to recommend and implement improvements and procedures.
7.Ability to maintain records and prepare reports.
8.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, officials, subordinates, and participants.
9.Ability to express oneself effectively, both orally and in writing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
1.Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a major in Physical Education
and
Nine years of satisfactory aquatics experience which included a combination of coaching USSA or NCAA swim teams, promoting and overseeing water safety instruction programs, and conducting aquatic courses and/or competitions. A minimum of three years of this experience must have been as a level five swim coach;
or
2.Master's degree in Physical Education from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university
and
Eight years of satisfactory experience as outlined above.

Necessary Special Requirements
Continuing certification as:
1.Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Trainer
2.American Red Cross CPR Instructor
3.American Red Cross First Aid Instructor
4.American Red Cross Swim Coaches Safety Instructor
5.American Swimming Coaches Association, Level 5 Swim Coach
NOTE:1.Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a major in Recreation is acceptable, and requires a total of eleven years of satisfactory experience as outlined above.
2.Master's degree in Recreation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university is acceptable, and requires a total of nine years of satisfactory experience as outlined above.
